Siemens Norway has signed contracts for the delivery of turbines for the two wind farms Høg-Jæren near Stavanger and Nygårdsfjellet II close to Narvik in the Northern part of Norway. The total value is near $170m.
The two wind farms will have a total annual production at around 340 gigawatt hours (GWh).
Japanese wind power developer Eurus Energy owns the majority of Høg-Jæren, which will have a total capacity of 73.6 megawatts. The construction of the farm will start in January/February in 2010, and the 32 Siemens turbines will be delivered in 2011.
At Nygårdsfjellet, Denmark’s Dong Energy and local power utility Narvik Energi is developing a wind farm where 11 new turbines will be raised in addition to three turbines already in operation. The turbines will be delivered during the summer of 2011, and have an annual production at around 100GWh.
The contracts also include maintenance and service for a five-year period. Siemens is market leader in wind energy in Norway.
